FAQ

What should I wear to my session?

Short Answer: Mostly neutral solid colors layered with some patterns or a few more colorful accent pieces usually photograph well. FYI denim is considered a neutral.

Long Answer: Check out my blog post What to Wear to Your Session.

What time should I plan for my session?

I primarily shoot outdoors with natural light. The best light is when the sun is closest to the horizon just after sunrise and just before sunset. So plan on an early morning or early evening session.

Exact times will vary depending on the time of year and each shoot will be determined individually.

What should I bring to my session?

Bring anything you'd like to tell your story. Props (any session) or wardrobe changes (portrait sessions) are always welcome. Please note that excessive props or clothing changes can slow down our ability to work efficiently and can add to the length of the session and cost.

For sessions with small children, baby wipes and lotion are both incredibly useful to have on hand for helping their skin to look its best. Also don't forget a brush and/or comb.

If you think you might need some bribes to help with cooperation, small marshmallows are magic. Most kids love them, they are quick to eat, don't stick in their teeth, and leave their clothes clean. Win win.

How should I prep for my session?

We both want to make the most of our time together. There are a few things you can do beforehand that will help make the session go more smoothly. Come up with a tentative shoot list for the session. Prep any kids that might be included in your shoot. If possible check out the location.

For more details about how to actually do all of this, check out my Tips for Prepping for your Session blog post.

What does the editing include?

So glad you asked! Edited files have had toning, contrast, and light corrections.

Any retouching or additional photoshopping is more labor intensive and will be an additional cost and will be charged per photo. Please contact me for estimates.

How do I download my photos?

You have the option of dowloading photos individually or downloading the entire gallery. There is a link for a tutorial below that explains the process for both.

Cut and paste the address below to view the tutorial.

How long do I have to download my files?

Your gallery will be available for 45 days after your session. After that it will be removed to make room for more current galleries.

I wish I could leave them up forever, but housekeeping is a chore none of us can escape. I will send a reminder email so you can download your gallery before it disappears forever. I've got your back.

How can I use my photos?

You are licensed to use the photos in your gallery for personal use. This means that you can make prints for yourself or as gifts for loved ones. You may also use the digital files on social media platforms in your personal accounts.

Any commercial use of your photos is prohibited without purchase of commercial licensing. If you are interested in a commercial license, please contact me.

To view the licensing details please check for the links on the CLIENT GALLERY page.

Where can I get prints?

Anywhere! Just be aware that not all print labs are created equal. I highly recommend mpix.com.

In the near future, I will be adding the option to order professional quality prints and canvases directly through me. Stay tuned.
